Below is the backup.evula.net FAQ.
Q: So, what exactly is it that backup.evula.net does?
A: Its a quick and easy way for developers to back up essential data that, without it, would kill their project.
Q: Who can use this service?
A: Any developer can use the service. This should not be used as a supplement to a personal website (whether hosted by .org or somewhere else), and it shouldn't be used just to backup personal files.
Now, that said, I don't have a problem with you throwing some personal files in with the mix (for example, if you have personal letters that you'd like to keep safe), but if I notice that every file you upload to backup.evula.net is unrelated to a project, I may terminate your account.
Q: How does it work?
A: Once your account is setup, you just upload your files to your backup.evula.net directory. Every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning (or afternoon, depending on when I wake up...), I'll download the entire contents of backup.evula.net onto my computer, and then delete everything from the server (since I can't guarantee that the web server won't go down).
Once I get around 750 megs backed up on my machine, I'll be burning it to a CD and storing it at work (which is far away from my home).
Please keep in mind that data uploaded to the backup.evula.net FTP site does not stay there.
Q: How do I get my files back?
A: Ideally, you'd tell me about when you backed the files up, since I store all the files by the date I downloaded them. However, if you need the files, just send an email to me about needing the files and I'll try to get them back online as quickly as possible.
If the delay on getting your files back seems a bit unfair, keep in mind that the only reason you'd need to get files back from me is if your computer completely bombed or was lost or something equally terrible, in which case you've probably got other things to worry about as well. At least the files are safe. ;)
Q: How do I sign up?
A: Fill out the registration form found here. Keep in mind that you must include some information about your project; I will deny applications from people who I believe are not serious developers.
Q: How much can I upload?
A: Try to keep your uploads under 500 megabytes. If you are uploading stuff and get told that the disk is full, email me and I'll clear out the backup site.
Q: What sort of files would be good to backup?
A: Anything important. :P Seriously, though, anything that is vital to your project, or that would be good to keep around for one reason or another. This could be models and textures, as well as any sort of concept pages that you've written up, like sketches or plot outlines. You could also upload old beta releases of your plugins or games, just to make sure that, at the end of the development cycle, you can look at every step of the project.
